Tummy Tuck In San Antonio, TX
A protuberant abdomen can be the result of excess fat, weak abdominal muscles, or loose skin. Sometimes, even if you eat well and exercise, these things don’t go away.
A Tummy Tuck (or abdominoplasty) is performed to correct the protuberant abdomen which is caused by skin excess and muscle weakness. During the surgery, the extra skin, stretch marks, and fat between the belly button and pubic hairline are removed, and the muscles of the abdominal wall are plicated, giving the body a tighter contour.

What happens during a Tummy Tuck procedure?
The Tummy Tuck procedure is performed in our private AAAASF Certified Class-C Outpatient Surgical Center and it takes about 2 hours or less.
Dr. Lawton uses the tumescent technique, which involves using a special fluid during the procedure. This fluid contains epinephrine, which helps to decrease the risk of bleeding and bruising, and lidocaine, which reduces the amount of anesthesia needed during surgery, and also helps to relieve pain after the surgery.
For this outpatient procedure, we utilize general intravenous anesthesia administered by an elite group of carefully selected, highly qualified, board-certified anesthesiologists and is designed to provide a smooth and gentle anesthetic experience, as well as prevent postoperative pain. This type of anesthesia allows Dr. Lawton to work on the areas being treated smoothly.
What Is The Recovery Like After A Tummy Tuck?
After your surgery, it is important to get plenty of rest. At home, you will have medications to help with any pain you may feel. We also prescribe antibiotics to reduce the risk of infection. To reduce swelling and bruising, and speed up your recovery, we will provide you with a special compression garment, surgical vitamins, arnica, and bromelain.
We will see you the day after your surgery at our office. By the fourth or fifth day, the discomfort should be significantly reduced. You will need to come back in one week to have your sutures removed. By then, you should be feeling well enough to resume most of your normal activities, including work. However, it will take about six weeks for your wounds to heal to 50% of their full strength. Only after this time period, you can return to vigorous activities.
We will schedule follow-up appointments with you at 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and then every year after that. If needed, we will see you more frequently. These follow-up visits are never charged.
Liposuction Vs. Tummy Tuck
Tummy Tucks are designed to remove excess skin and tighten loose abdominal muscles in the midsection. By contrast, a Liposuction is designed for the patient who does not have issues with excess skin or loose muscles, but simply wants packets of fat removed in the abdomen, thighs, or hips.
Choosing between a tummy tuck and liposuction ultimately depends on your body type and the results you are seeking. We may even recommend a combination of the two in order to get the look you truly want. If you need any more information about either of these procedures or would like help choosing which one is right for you, call us today at Remington Oaks Medical Building Phone Number 210-496-2639 and we can help you with any questions and concerns you have.

I would like to share my experience with anyone that’s interested or concerned about having plastic surgery. I am a 69 year old woman with diabetes. At my late age I decided to finally get a tummy tuck after having 3 c-sections and gaining close to 60 pounds. These pregnancies literally destroyed my stomach. As I got older it got worse. My husband finally convinced me to visit Dr Lawton for a consultation. The minute I met him he made feel at ease. He explained thoroughly what needed to be done and reassured me I would have no issues with the tummy tuck. I booked it right there and then. He was right for I had no issues. I am healing well and what has been the best experience about all this is he cares about his patients. Anytime I felt unsure or concerned I’d send him an email and he immediately responded back even on weekends. What doctor does that?? To me, that means a lot. He did a beautiful job on my tummy tuck and I am extremely pleased with his professionalism. I highly recommend anyone that’s considering doing plastic surgery. I can honestly say, he’s the BEST plastic surgeon I have ever had. Trust me, you won’t regret going to him.

I am 8wks post surgery Tummy Tuck and Breast Lift/Reduction- very happy with my current outcome and it is only getting better! I cannot say enough about the care and attention to my healing in this practice. While Dr. Lawton leads the team, each nurse showed specific knowledge and patience and support that helped me through the hard times. This recovery has been hard and then no big deal, then terrifying and back to easy peasy. I have gone through every emotion. I have a very physical job that I returned to in 4 weeks with restrictions. Here are my DO’s: DO Rest, Follow every instruction for wound care which includes limiting activity and nutrition, Eat 100g+ of protein, Drink lots of water, Buy another box of the post surgery supplements from CoolMed, Use the nurse email for any questions (they are sooo nice and thorough), Use a recliner or electric bed and take your own pictures a couple times a week. Also- DO have patience: 1. With yourself and your body’s healing (trust the process), and 2. Also with appointments- you will get the extra time with Dr. Lawton & nurses when you need it so know that you may wait a little sometimes because someone else needs them. Don’t give up. When you feel overwhelmed, shake it off. It gets better, wayyyy better.

Hi. I started my weight loss journey 3 years ago. Dr Lawton was the first Dr I went to see about my procedure. I looked into other drs and they contacted me through email or text messages saying to send pictures and the cost was cheaper.I was never going to see any of those drs until after surgery if I’m lucky. My gut told me to go back to Dr Lawton. I went back and he honored the first quote, he gave me three years ago. It’s not about the price it’s bout it’s bout the Dr physically, seeing you and about the Dr caring bout your body. I will be posting after my surgery. I’m so excited for this new journey
